Kids Class at Church Street Boxing

On Wednesday, Alex reached his goal and saved enough money to buy his own laptop computer. Of course it was a mac. He came into the city and purchased it himself. He was so proud. Danielle took a few pictures which I have to post when she gives them to me.

After picking up the computer, Alex had a photo shoot at Church Street Boxing Gym. Justin is starting a new program designed for kids and needed a model for some shots. I posted a few of them up on my website so check them out. http://www.photoburns.com/Kidsclass/index.html

I'm beginning to change over my site to a different system. The flash site although worked nicely, was very slow to use. The pictures took a long time to load. Since most of the events are over 250 pictures, I thought it would be a good idea. This is a slow process but I'm moving 1 album at a time.

This weekend is Taya's Birthday party. After the party we are heading over to the beachclub because it's Halloween. Kids get dressed up so should be nice. I'll have a bunch of pictures after this weekend.

Recovering from another Friday night fight

Had a Great time last night at the Rumble on the River with Friday night fights. Justin always puts on a great show. This event was only boxers so it was a little different for me. Another great night of boxing

Last night was the best night of fights that Friday nght fights has put on. 12 great fights with some big upsets. I took over almost 1400 pictures over the course of the night. I'm so glad that I rented a lens from calumet. What a difference. I'll post some pictures in another post. My biggest program will be to figure out which pictures to include. ARE YOU TALKING TO ME???

This coming friday night is the next installment of Friday Night Fights. I'm looking forward to this event. It's at the armory on Lexington Avenue here in the city. We just finished printing the program for it and WAIT until you see the cover. Let's just say, lock up your daughters because this is the LAST person you would like to see come home with her.

Good Morning America

Well, we were featured on Good Morning America this morning which kinda surprised all of us because we didn't know when it was going to happen. We received a HUGH amount of hits on our website for our epitome card. This turned into a few little orders but hey, it's a national spot.

Great Class

I took a GREAT class with John Woodward on thursday night with Jay. Really learned a few different things about lighting and setups. He was very entertaining which Jay and I both like. I will post a few images based on some new ideas that I got in the next few days.

I also picked up a light meter for my birthday (well early b-day at least).

New York 1

Friday Night Fights

Friday night was another great night of Muay Thai Kick boxing. Justin put on a 15 fight show which was perfect. The crowd was HUGH and everyone seem to have a great time. I think that the pictures are getting better each time. I'm still adjusting the camera each time we go and it is really showing. Here are some of my favorites.

Scary Sunday

Sunday Alex and I took Spike to the Vet. Spike received 4 shots so I guess he was a little on the sore side. On the way home, spike snapped at alex. I pulled over and pull the dog out of the car. I spoke to the Vet that night and he said to watch the dog carefully. The last thing you need is an accident.

Danielle and I have both said that in the event that we can't trust the dog... bye bye dog. We can't afford for there to be any accidents. We have too many kids in and out of the house now.

The Vet did say though that he could be sore from the shoots. He said that it's not completely out of the normal for the dog to be a little pissed off and he's mad at Alex and I.

We are going to see what happens over the next few days.

Quiet Sunday

So Taya won't up this morning at 5am OLD time puking. She's got a fever so we are not going to be able to make Carole's Birthday today. I will have to figure out how I'm going to pick Alex up later today.

On a different note, istock... rejected AGAIN. this is the 4th time they have rejected me and I sent them back an email asking why if I've sent them now 12 different images that NONE of them have been approved. Personally I think there is some type of secret istock nuts that only let their own friends into the community. I've been looking at what other people are posting and I don't get it anymore. My pictures are the exact same as there's. I'm getting to the point that I'm going to buy an image and then upload it as my own just to see if they would approve me. Not exactly the right thing to do though ... But it would be fun.

Last night we left spike alone in the kitchen from 6:15 until around 11:30 when we got home from Marissa's sweet sixteen. TO MY SURPRISE, He didn't have any accidents. I really didn't expect that.

Church Street Boxing

I went over to Church Street Boxing Gym the other day to help Justin out with some new pictures for his brochures. I really have a lot of fun with taking pictures of boxing. They were teaching a class on Mauy Thai kick boxing with I really enjoy because of the extra action. They had a bunch of people in the class at all skill levels which I thought was really cool. Everyone was really nice to me so I figured I would post a few images from it.

Sleep

Not sure if anyone knows this but I love to Sleep. It's just so refreshing when you have had a good night sleep once and a while. Last night, I walked Spike at 11:30 and then went to bed. He never woke up, never cried, never barked or anything. (At least that I heard). I woke up this morning and took him out at 6:10 and he was prefect. If I could only get him to do this more often ... that would be even better. He's really getting into a lot of trouble. Loves to eat anything he can get his little paws on.

Spots Spots and more Spots

Had a really nice weekend. Ended up going to the Museum of Natural History. We all had a great time with the butterflys. Nice to walk around but by 4:30 rolled around, we were all done. Alex said that his favorite part was seeing "Dumb Dumb" from 'night at the museum'. Very funny watching his face.

After the kids went to bed, Danielle and I worked on some more pictures for Devin. After taking a few shots I realized that my camera had a few spots on the sensor. That really put me in a bad mood as I'm very careful with the camera. I ordered a sensor cleaning kit and hopefully it will arrive soon. I've never experienced that before so I was very upset about it. I did speak to a few people and everyone said that it is something that I can fix pretty quickly. we will see.

Wednesday Pipe Cleaning

So Last night I was supposed to do a complete photoshoot for one of my friends. He wants to sell a product and asked me to help him with the pictures. Little did I know though my pipes needed a cleaning. My basement bathroom decided that instead of taking a crap in it, it would take a crap on the floor. I guess payback for all of the years of use.

By the time I was able to sit down and do some of the shots, I was already not in the mood to really do it. I'm going sit back down and re-do the pictures this way it's perfect. I'm happy with the quality of the images but need to work some more on the lighting. It's not perfect so I need to adjust a little bit more. Product pictures are much harder then I thought it would be but I'm learning which is fine. Doesn't cost me anything to learn.

Once I'm happy with the images, I'll post some up.

February 23, 2008

This has been an extremely busy weekend for us. Amanda and My Dad came in on wednesday night so it's been really a lot of fun seeing them. Dad has been coming into work each day. I think he likes to get away from Florida for a change every once and a while. Amanda just needed a break from the cold even though it's been cold here.

Alex had a friend over on saturday which took up most of the day and then on sunday we went out to Doctor Dave for another visit for Spike. He's now just about 16 lbs and still gaining weight. He has received another round of shots.  After the appointment, Dave invited us back to his house for lunch which was a lot of fun. Dave and Dee have a few horses, 2 goats and a bunch of chickens. Too bad it rained on sunday but still a nice day.

After we left there we stopped by our cousin's house for a quick visit. Nice to see them

I didn't have any time to shoot this past weekend so I have nothing new to tell about istock. My friend is coming over on wednesday night because he needs some product shots. Hopefully that will be the trick and I'll get some other pictures for me.

Hump Day

I have not posted since last week as this past weekend was Valentines Day. Busy with stuff in the house. Spike is still peeing on the floor and crapping in the middle of the night but at least it's in the kitchen and it's not a mess on the carpets. I did however buy some stock in paper towels. I think I'm helping the economy with all of the rolls that I'm buying.

I am now able to post up new images to istock but I have not done so yet. I'm working on putting some different images up this time. I'm really thinking carefully about what I'm going to post.

My Dad is coming in for a week so the studio is shut down until he leaves again. I have to work on building a bigger one in the house when I have a moment then again, who has a moment.

Friday 13th

Happy Friday the 13th. End of a long week and I'm looking forward to the weekend. I have calmed back down from my mood from istock not approving me so I'm going to work on some pictures this weekend. I have a few ideas but I'm really going to watch the composition carefully and think about stock photographer.

Alex and I are going to work on his movie and a new lego set that Nicole picked up for him during the week. I also have to take down the studio this weekend. My Father is coming in so don't want him to freak out seeing this hugh setup with backdrops and lights. Also need to clean up the backyard since he's coming in.

I think Alex might give me another hair cut this week. This is a picture from the last time. I shaved his head and this is what he was doing to me.

Happy Thursday

Spike didn't have any accidents during the night. He is however chewing on anything he can get a hold of. I saw him last night going for my sneakers. At least it's not pee.

I'm going to do a photo shoot this week of more generic types of things. I have a few different ideas and HOPEFULLY, istock will take the application.

I'm very frustrated by istock. I was so annoyed yesterday by them still not approving my application. The worst part is that they are making me wait another week before they will allow me to upload new images. I think that's the part that really gets me. It's one thing to not accept an image but I've uploaded a bunch of different images all with different positions and setups. Just venting at this point.

Spike last night I think only had 1 accident. I am really looking forward to trusting him in the house at night. He likes to cry in the middle of the night when someone gets up. Guess he is a little on the lonely side.

Rejected again

Ok, so this is the 3rd time I'm being rejected because of my upload pictures. They said that my pictures don't meet the minimum standards. I'm not sure if they do this to everyone but it seems like a pain in the butt for all of this. I tried going about it differently this time and I uploaded images that were very VERY similar to other photographers. It's getting very annoying. 

NOW they won't let me upload images for another 7 more days.

FINALLY

Well, this morning was a pleasant surprise waiting for me. NO PEE OR POOP on the floor. Although he was still sleeping by the time I was awake. I already had my jacket on and ready to walk him. We didn't make it past the top of my steps before he peed BUT at least it was outside.

He's getting a little better in the house. Only had 2 accidents yesterday so soon Spike will be house broken. Speaking of which, why do they call it house broken. It should be house fixed. The broken part is the pee in the house.

I'm still waiting to see about my istock application. I am waiting for the approval.

Trisia dropped off her pictures from her wedding to me yesterday. I'm looking forward to going thru all of them.

Happy Monday

Spike went to bed last night around 12. No Crying which is always a plus until 5:50 this morning. He only went once in the middle of the night. Yesterday he didn't have any accidents in the house. I think he's just getting used to going outside. He still doesn't like to go out all of the time. Alex took him out for about 1/2 hour yesterday which I think helped.

On my stock photo update, I've uploaded new images and we will see in the next few days what happens. HOPEFULLY, they will approve me. Originally, they asked for 3 images. I've now posted 9 in total and still waiting for the application to be approved.

a small small light

So, there might be a small light at the end of the tunnel.... BUT VERY SMALL!!! Last night we went to bed at 12:15 and spike didn't make a peep. Of course he had a very accidents in the middle of the night but at least I was able to sleep. He was still being stubborn this morning taking him out.

We took him to Petco today and the Spike went wild. He loved being out in a store with other dogs.

We ended up going to the movies and got home, I took spike for another walk. THIS time, he walked on his own and didn't sit down every 2 seconds. I'll see how he does later tonight when I take him for his late walk before bed.

Another fun night

Spike continues to be a pain in the butt. He still hates to go outside. We thought it might be because he's cold so Nicole brought over her dogs sweater... Yeah, that didn't help. Still hates it. We were up with him until 12:45 last night and it took 2 more times of me getting out of bed to calm him down. All was peaceful until 445 when spike decided he wanted to see who was awake.

I'm not getting much sleep this week. I left work early yesterday so I could go home and sleep a little but that didn't work out. I got about 1/2 hour of sleep until Taya work up

That's ok, maybe this weekend will be easier.

On another note, I'm resubmitting new pictures today to istockphoto to become a stock photographer. Hopeful can make a little bit of extra money.

Nights are getting harder

During the day has been getting better but Danielle is walking him every 2 hours. He still took a leak on the floor during dinner but at least it's a little better. Late last night though he was not a happy camper nor was I. He wanted to play around 12:30 and I was not having any part of that.

I'm continuing my we work on getting approved for istockphoto.com  I didn't realize how much work was involved with is and getting approved. I've submitted a bunch of pictures and we will see.
